Ann Thaxter

Ann Thaxter is a Fresno native who graduated from Fresno High School and Fresno State College. An accomplished vocalist, Ann has appeared on major national TV and radio shows including, Rumpus Room, Arthur Godfrey CBS Radio. Captain Kangaroo as the “music teacher” and singer/pianist in the “Treasure House”, performed on the Ed Sullivan Show, Art Linkletter Show, Don McNeil’s “Breakfast Club”, and has performed in concerts with Jerry Lewis, Roger Williams, and the Les Brown Orchestra. During her professional singing career Ann appeared in nightclubs in New York City, Chicago, Miami, Minneapolis, and in Casinos in Puerto Rico and Cuba. She also recorded for Capitol Records where she had 2 records in the “top ten”.

Ann married her high school sweetheart, Orthopedic Surgeon Thomas Thaxter. They settled in Fresno where they raised three children. Ann has been an active volunteer serving her community with various organizations such as Choir director at Daily and Bullard Elementary Schools, PTA President, Junior League, Fresno Medical Society, Fresno County Grand Jury and as vocalist with the Fresno State “Statesman Big Band”.

Ann is currently a member of the St. Paul Newman Center where she sings with the choir. She also enjoys her role as grandmother to 8 grandchildren.

“I am on the Board of KNXT because I believe our Valley needs a television channel that broadcasts the best in human and spiritual values. I want the help KNXT in any way I can. As a Catholic, I believe in it’s mission to evangelize, educate and entertain through programing suited for families.”
